Who has not heard about Facebook? Facebook has over 2 billion active monthly users.
Yes. That is billion with a "b."
Ask yourself this: "When did I first hear about Facebook?" I first heard of Facebook when my best friend told me about opening profiles for us, so we could play online games together (playing "Crazy Taxi" after school and comparing scores with your friends was a cool thing to do!).

Maybe you didn't even hear about it until "The Social Network" was released. People don't normally know the names of founders and CEOs of each company, but thanks to this movie, we will always remember who Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin are.

For those of us who already had our profiles made, I'm pretty sure we all felt like Facebook nerds as we watched the movie and already knew a thing or two about it. Facebook is one of today's most famous platforms on social media. It has been used for playing online games, sharing vacation pictures, reading your friend's complains about the bad customer service they received at a mall and most recently, tagging friends on funny memes. This social media platform has brought people together. You can connect with old friends, as well as connect with your new friendships. Facebook is also a place to plan events and see how many people are interested and how many plan to attend. Facebook has developed many different uses since it was created (when it was first called The Facebook).
Usually, research is time-consuming and expensive, but Facebook created its own "Facebook Analytics." This social media platform created a great free tool for its users. In their own words, Facebook Analytics "lets you understand and optimize your complete customer journey across mobile, web, bots, offline and more." In my personal experience, I use this tool at my current job to measure things like how many weekly new followers we have on our Facebook page, what age groups are within our followers, and most importantly, what days and times are popular to our followers (which are the best to post due to high traffic).
Social Media would not be the same without Facebook. This platform has given us a space that we had never even dreamed of before. As we wait for new Facebook tools, let's keep on following, posting, liking and sharing for now.
What are your thoughts on Facebook? I would love to hear them!
